daily painting | new park

I spent this new year’s day afternoon on my bike exploring Jean Sweeney Park which recently opened in Alameda, and isn’t 100% finished. It runs along old railroad grounds with an excellent bike path and a modern play area for kids (very popular today!). Wanting to get away from crowds, I rode my bike farther along the path and found a huge pile of enormous tree stumps. Rough and craggy and, if I was 8 years old, I’d have found climbing on it a blast as it was a bit dangerous. Anyways, it was a lovely way to begin the new year. Then it got pretty chilly so it was time to ride home. And I wrote the wrong date on the sketch as, yes, it is twenty-NINETEEN.
