Finished this watercolor/pastel from a photo of myself holding this charming, wonderful little Sharp-shinned hawk. I am fortunate enough to be part of the volunteer banding program at GGRO.org (look it up!). We follow the hawks as they migrate through the Marin Headlands just outside San Francisco in the autumn months. Such a privilege. “Sharpies,” as we call them, have these wonderful buggy eyes. Easy to fall in love with. They nest in forested areas outside our area, and migrate through heading south.
