This mysterious concrete blocky thing was standing by itself on a bit of asphalt in an Alameda shipyard. It looked kind of ominous, but was interesting to paint. A below-street-level something-or-other? What could it possibly have to do with a ship? But it was also fun to admire a couple of bazillion dollar yachts moored nearby. Russian oligarchs cruising the world and servicing their yachts in Alameda.
